101 Recipes for Microwave Mug Cakes

AND THE WINNERS ARE:
#51 - JENNY
#206 - SAVANNAH SMILES
#34 - JENNY (different one)

Our oldest son lives in a City about 1.5 hours away. Eight months of the year he is attending College to become a Mechanical Engineer Technologist, and the other 4 months he's working to earn money to attend College :) Usually about 1 weekend a month he comes home for some family time and food. Not sure which is more important to him some times LOL. Dessert is something that Luke never has while away. So when he is home I try to make something special.

I found this amazing cookbook that will make it easy for Luke to make his own dessert whenever he wants! 101 Recipes for Microwave Mug Cakes has some really wonderful ideas for making cakes in under 10 minutes - start to finish! I contacted Stacey about a review/give away for her new cookbook and she agreed.

About Stacey:
Stacey J. Miller learned at a very young age that, on days when nothing else goes right, she can always make herself feel better by cooking an easy meal or baking a quick dessert. When she's not in the kitchen, she's indulging in her day job. A book promotion specialist, Stacey founded S. J. Miller Communications, which you can find online at
bookpr.com. She is based in Randolph, Massachusetts and is a mom to the two best cats on the planet.

The best part is - All you need is a microwave oven, a mug, a saucer, a mixing bowl, and a few simple ingredients. Most of the recipes share a few basic ingredients, so it's easy for me to send them along with Luke and he can make the majority of the recipes and only have to purchase a couple of ingredients himself. Plus the fact that they are in a mug - perfect for one person!

I made the Blueberry Muffin Microwave Mug Cake, which happens to be a free recipe on the site! Here is what it looks like:It was quite good actually! The blueberry flavor was perfect. Just be careful when you pull it out of the microwave - it's really really hot! Also don't wait to long to take it out of the mug. Don't want it to be trapped in there :)

I also made the Chocolate Caramel Mug Cake. LOVE chocolate!! Now it's so easy to have a chocolate cake - I'll have to be careful we don't make this too often!!

These recipes are easy enough for kids to do if you have all the ingredients for them. Luke has already picked out a dozen recipes he really wants to try, but he'll have to wait until the next time he's home to pick up the cookbook :)

Two things to remember:
1) Don't cook the muffin to long! I learned this the hard way with one experiment. It is possible to burn them in the microwave, the smell isn't pretty :(

2) Use a regular size mug. I made the blueberry one in a larger mug and it took longer to bake so it's harder to figure out when it's done. I did the first try a bit too long and it was hard and dry before it was cool enough to eat. But the second one I did worked way better in a smaller mug.

NOW FOR THE GIVE AWAY!
Three lucky winners will each receive a copy of 101 Recipes for Microwave Mug Cakes.

  1. I would love this little cookbook - as I am diabetic - and I could eat a small cake like that - it would fit into my diet....

  2. I would love this book because as much as I love cake, my hips don't! When I make a full cake, I tend to eat too much of it. This would be ideal! Also, I have a budding 3 year-old cook in the house, she would LOVE to give these a try!

  158. I would love this because I have the biggest sweet tooth in the house, so making a single mug of goodness would be a lot better for me than a whole pan of brownies.

  167. I would give this book to my son. He's in college and has been unwilling to learn how to cook so far. This book sounds like it could inspire him with all the great recipes!

  178. What a fantastic idea for a cookbook! I would love to own a copy because there are days I get cravings and I really don't have the time to do up a whole bunch, but here the recipes are quick and simple and just for one! Besides, with a large family, sometimes everyone wants a different kind, this way, we can all have the kind of muffin we want, quickly and in a teacup too! How special is that?!

ps. winning a copy of this terrific little teacup muffin cookbook would make every muffin we made that much more special and tasty!
