Lee has this amazing shop on Etsy. Color Me Conscious has some of the most unique jewelry items I've seen! I was very happy when Lee asked to do a give away on my blog :) You can also find Lee on Twitter!
*Where are you from? Tell us a bit about yourself.
A 28 year old self-taught jewelry designer born and raised in SoJo(Southern New Jersey). For the last 6 years, my day job has been as a middle school French teacher. C'est vrai!
*How did you decide on your shop name? Why did you start your business?
I've been making jewelry for family and friends for many years --- I mean since I was a teenager! After hearing, "You should try to sell some of your work.” and “You make really cool stuff" many times, I decided to take the plunge and launched Color Me Conscious in November of 2009. CMC is where I sell my OOAK (one-of-a-kind) handcrafted jewelry --- and a portion of the sale price from each piece goes directly to charity... Every other month I debut a new collection centered around a new theme color. (January/February’s collection is RED.) The color of the month corresponds to the awareness color of a specific cause and charity --- it’s that simple. (The RED collection supports heart disease awareness and prevention, and The American Heart Association.) The "conscious" in Color Me Conscious, is short for "socially conscious." Every other month...a brand new cause, a new feature color, another unique opportunity for buyers to make a difference AND “color” someone happy!
What types of items do you have? Do you have something new you will be adding?
I design everything from earrings and necklaces, to bracelets, rings and brooches. My favorite pieces are my signature "Corsage Cuff" braclets --- probably because I've yet to make one, that I didn't want to keep. ;-)
*What motivates or inspires you to create?
I am inspired by color, color, and more COLOR. I search out ways to incorporate different fabrics, colors, and textures in my work --- like in my "Big Button Bands", like the one featured in this giveaway! I also love anything vintage. The idea of using something old to make something new, gives me goosebumps every time.
*What is your favorite on-line shop?
My favorite online store right now is clementinyclothing.etsy.com. Fashion designer, Kar, makes some of the coolest pieces I've seen...and she's such a sweetheart!
